Expeditions that ignite your heartbeat
You are probably not getting enough adventure
Many of us dive into boring routines without realizing how far away we are from the shore. Some face unhappy relations and kiss screens they don’t want to look at.
You may fight that boredomness with a new job, but once the honeymoon period ends, the frustration kicks in and the old habits come back. Some people get bitten by the “travel bug” and are constantly waiting for the next escape. Others step into retreats and healing journeys but have a hard time adopting those practices at home.
By living at a fast and furious pace, we forget to unwind and to breathe. We forget to hold hands and to take a conscious nap. We forget to walk around the block and to call a friend… and one day our cells will regret it.
When in doubt, go on an adventure
If doctors prescribed more adventure, we would all be happier. Remember that the best adventures happen when there is intempérie, discomfort, trauma, challenges, surprises, and even pain.
Science shows that when we experience difficult things, we reorient our route and bolster the elements that give meaning to our lives. This is called post-traumatic growth.
It doesn’t have to be fun, to be memorable.
Tap into the real world
There is clearly a wellbeing benefit that comes from being grounded in physical pursuits. We all need digital withdrawal, and moments of respite from connectivity.
Call it playcations, exploration travel, or adventure with benefits. Go solo, with the fam, or with strangers, but go.
There is no such thing as too much adventure. Life outdoors needs to be widespread.
